War In Heaven

War In Heaven

by roylamont

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought against his angels and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”. Rev. 12:7 Everything was so perfect. How and why did the war in heaven start? There had to be a reason. What was it? Let’s examine what Ezekiel 28:15 has to say about it referring to Lucifer. “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, til iniquity wast found in you”. In Isaiah 14: 13-14 we find more evidence, “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most high”.

Now we know why that greatest of all wars began so very long ago and is still going on. We have discovered that Lucifer sinned. His pride led him into rebellion against his very Creator. Lucifer, whose name means light bearer,  then became known as Satan, which means adversary. Satan is still the adversary of God and is also our adversary. Satan still has one third of all the angels who rebelled with him against God and they are now fallen angels or demons. It is these demons who are waging war against both God and against us as well. Since these demons are so powerful how are we to contend and battle against them? Can we hope to win against them? The answer is definitely…Yes.  Not in our own strength or power but by the power and Spirit of our Lord Jesus. We have been given great and mighty power. A word of caution here. This power must be given to you by the Holy Spirit. Without it you will be defenseless against demonic forces. We find this remarkable incident in Acts 19:13-16; “Then certain of the vagabond Jews exorcists, took upon them to call over them , which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, we adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus, I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded”.

As you can see, you must have the vibrant and all powerful Holy Spirit of God in you before you attempt to do battle with the enemy. It is not by shouting or screaming at the enemy that you prevail. They are not frightened by your loud voice. They are concerned with your proper authority to use this almighty power of God. When confronted by Satan our Lord Jesus didn’t shout or scream but simply quoted the authority of the scripture. Jesus knew He had the power and it was all He needed; and it is all you need. As a converted believer and follower of Jesus, the Christ you have all the same power Jesus had and all you have to do is believe it and exercise it over and against the enemy. To be effective against demonic forces you must know the scriptures in order to be able to quote it. It is the living Word of God Himself that is going before you to overpower the enemy. Do not argue with the enemy, but boldly declare “ God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Tim:1:7. Be bold and confident and declare the word of the Lord. In Luke 10:17-19 we have our authority and power. “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name., and He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto thee power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. You must believe that when spoken by and in faith the Word of God can not fail because God can not fail. He guarantees it. Almighty God Himself has declared, “So shall my word be that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. Isaiah 55:11  In another scripture you can find solace because God has said, “The Lord of Hosts has sworn saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand. Isaiah 14:24 Whatever your circumstance is, the chances are that if you are being attacked by the enemy you must remember that you have the power of God within you. You must be a “believer” and you must trust that the spiritual weapons that God had provided you will work when backed by your faith. If you are moved to doubt and fear, you will likely fail. In the book of Job 3:25 we find this word of caution; “ For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me and that which I was afraid of is come unto me”. Fear will cancel out faith so you must stand strong. You must be positive and confident. Job had another word which should be a comfort to you. Job 22:28 “Thou shall decree a thing and it shall be established unto you; and the light shall shine upon thy ways”. It is you who have the greatest power, not the enemy. You have only to use it and declare it against all circumstances; illness, sickness, disease, infidelity, financial distress or whatever your need is. You can declare your prayer and declaration as already granted to you by the Lord. `…..”and calleth these things which be not as though they were”. Romans 4:17b. And in verse 21 we find…”And being fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able also to perform”. The enemy is not just powerful, but cunning as well. The Christian believer in Christ must also be aware that there are times when the enemy is persistent and continues to affect your life in an adverse way and that other measures may be needed. Fasting is a powerful tool and Jesus told his disciples that it was sometimes necessary as an effective means against the enemy. Matthew 17:18-21 says: “And Jesus rebuked the devil and he came out of him : and the child was cured from that very hour. The came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, why could not we cast him out?, And Jesus said unto them, because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit, this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting”.

Fasting strengthens your spirit for the battle to come. It is what Jesus did before his confrontation with Satan. The greater the battle the more preparation you need. Don’t wait until the last moment to engage the enemy. Be prepared with daily prayer and when necessary ‘fasting’ for a period of time. A good habit to have is to write down all the scriptures I have already given you here and others as well that may better address your own particular circumstances and read them aloud each day. These should be declarations of affirmation which should fill you with joy and confidence as you meditate on the power and promises of the Lord who will never leave you or forsake you. Pick a time, morning or evening, or both, when you can enter into this special communion with the Lord and present yourself as his faithful warrior and protector of your family. It makes no difference if you are male or female, all are warriors in the spirit and mighty in deeds before our Lord. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. I believe that at the very end, even Satan will bow down and will bend his knees before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords…Jesus, our Lord and savior.

Another look at ‘time’

Another look at time. What is time really all about? A system to help us keep our life in order? Is it just another way to separate one event from another? A way to mark time to see if we have achieved some new sporting record? It’s yes to all of these but it is far more. Where did time come from? What is it’s source? Was it created by man or was it discovered by man? ‘Time’ was created by God and it demonstrates that we are mortal beings and confined to this mortal and physical world, while God is unlimited by time and is master of all spiritual existence. Time demonstrates what is mortal and what is immortal. As a mortal we have a beginning and an end while God who is immortal had no beginning and has no end.

It is God who has arranged the means by which we will transit from a mortal being to an immortal being or on to final annihilation. I ‘m sure most have seen that little glass ball that when shaken one can see within similated snow flakes whirling around a little snow-man. All this contained in a little world of it’s own. We, too, are confined to this physical world unable to escape. We could if only the barrier of time was removed. Einstein taught that as we approach the speed of light that time actually slowed down and if you reached the speed of light then time would cease to be a factor at all. Now if God is light, as the scripture says, New International Version (©1984) “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” …..then this may explain why God can not age and if and when we achieve our immortal bodies it will be because we have put on our spiritual body and will also be light as He is light. Even now astronomers  can see light from stars from light years away that have been traveling for million and perhaps billions of years and their light has not faded nor been diminished at all. This light is now just as it was then.  This may very well be the manner in which we will achieve eternal life made available through Christ Jesus our creator.

We can only marvel at the incomprehensible intellect and genius that is our God. He controls all that He creates and uses it for good.  God’s ‘timing’ is always perfect, even as He is perfect. And that is,

As I See It.

Extra Sensory Perception

Touch, smell, taste, sight, hearing are our five senses. Mostly, we take them for granted.

Our legs can take us where our ears can’t go and our eyes can go where our legs can’t go. Each of our senses are marvelous creations but they are limited. They are encased in a marvelous body but it too is limited. The human body was created to ‘house’ these extraordinary attributes. With all this said our body limits us to our full potential. It is when we learn of the mental and creative powers of artists, scientists and musicians and their creative genius that we temporarily pause to consider the almost untapped power of the mind. The expression of the mind is our unlimited imagination. With our unlimited imagination we can go where our five senses can’t go. Our mind can hear the sound of a musical symphony our earthly ears can’t hear. It is heard in the mind before it is ever heard by the human ear. A challenging scientific equation is solved by the mind before it appears on a sheet of paper or on a computer. The Mona Lisa or Pieta` was envisioned by the imagination before they came forth as paint and marble. The mind is the interpreter of the imagination. The question is, where does or where did the spark of originality and genius come from? It did not come from the mind or the brain but could only come from the source of all knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

It could only come from an all powerful, all knowing power of the Spirit. Man has a human spirit that depends on and draws from the greater Holy Spirit of God. It is the way God communicates with us. We are flesh and blood and He is Spirit. It is only when we through our human spirit attempts to relate to Him that His awesome knowledge and creative talents are made known to us by the union of His and our spirit. His Spirit lights up our understanding and we become minor creators able to produce works of art, science, music and everything else that makes our life enjoyable. The closer our spirits enjoin and mingle, the greater the results and the greater our joy becomes. Our imagination can take us anywhere in all of creation. Our body is limited to this place and time, but the awesome power our imagination can transcend the material world and time itself. We can return to the past and relive those moments, as a child, when life seemed to be full of joy or we can travel to the future and imagine what it will be like or we can travel to the far distant planets and imagine ourselves as another Christopher Columbus about to land on a new world. How awesome is that?

Time corporation said of Stephen W. Hawking, now Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University, a post once held by Sir Isaac Newton, “Even as he sits helpless in his wheelchair unable to move, his mind seems to soar ever more brilliantly across the vastness of space and time to unlock the secrets of the universe.” Hawking is unable to speak but his brilliant mind is still able, by means of a computer and artificial speech, to communicate to his students and associates. His body may limit his movements but his genius is unhindered as his mind continues to ponder the mysteries of the universe and the solutions to many unanswered questions.

Yes, the mind is phenomenal but the force that created it and nourishes it with truth, knowledge, wisdom and understanding is greater. This force that allows us to be so exceptional is only possible because we have a human spirit that can communicate with the Holy Spirit. If ever that ‘plug’ is pulled it is then lights out for everyone. We become no more than animals. We either decide to be a part of the grand design of our Creator or we are left with the alternative……………………. back to the jungle.

Eye Of The Beholder

It is very likely that you have heard the expression, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

I believe this is true. Perhaps you will remember an issue of the ‘National Geographic’ edition of years ago where it depicted a tribe of African women wearing large rings in their lip and ears? There are many other cosmetic treatments used by both men and women of many nations that we may think are strange and curious but to them it is a sign of beauty. Beauty is, indeed, in the eye of the beholder.

What about truth? What is truth to you? Is your ‘truth’ also ‘truth’ to me? It may or it may not be. Truth is different than beauty. Beauty is a concept and an opinion. It may vary from person to person. Truth has to be a definite fact. It can not be one thing to one person and another thing to another person. Often we treat ‘truth’ as if it was something that could mean different things to different people. Truth is not changed by what you believe it is but ‘truth’ is what it actually is. However, it may be perceived differently by different people. People may disagree on somethings pertaining to ‘truth’ but have to agree to the essentials. We can agree that science can determine the exact moment of the sunset while some may disagree as to whether it is still light or that is is really dark. This portion is just an opinion, the timing of the sunset is a fact and therefore a fixed ‘truth’. Truth can not contradict truth or one of them is not the truth.

There are many different kinds of truth. There are moral truths, there are scientific truths, which includes the world we live in, and there are religious truths. Here, perhaps, is one of the greatest areas of confusion, doubt and ignorance. There are many religions and many variances in their belief system. Who do you believe? What can you trust to be true? Many just accept what has been told to them by parents, ministers, rabbi’s, priests, imans or other religious leaders. If there is one ‘truth’ how do we determine which or what it is? I have had to wrestle with this question for myself. I tried listening to many different religious teachers and sincere though they were they all had a specific bias skewed to their own religious denomination. I heard many repeat what I had heard others also repeat. Some were quoting other religious leaders who were also quoting other religious leaders. What I heard from all of these religious leaders were opinions based on what they believed. But, what if they were believing the wrong things? I had been listening to men often sharing their opinions as if it was a fact instead of just their opinion. This was ‘man-talk’, what I wanted to know was ‘truth’. Where would I find it? How could I be sure? Who would be the ultimate source of ‘truth’? As I look around this world I have to acknowledge that there has to be a mighty creator of this magnificent universe, one we call God. If God created this fabulous universe then He and He alone is the possessor of all truth.

It is in  Him that truth is to be found. Where is this truth? Where can I find it? It is to be found in His “Word”. Knowing that one day we as a people would be asking these questions He left us a written transcript which we call the Holy Bible.

Here it is God Himself speaking to us and giving us the information we seek. When we take His word to be true and read it as it is written and not add to it nor subtract from it’s wisdom and accept it as truth then we will discover that we have found the ‘truth’.

This is not the end of it. Having discovered the ‘truth’ what do we do with it? Truth is knowledge, wisdom and understanding, yes understanding, for this is essential to truth’. For to have truth but not understand it is of little or no value. If an oriental person who does not understand English finds an English bible it is of little or no value to him. Truth’ must be correctly understood. This is information we need to prepare for the world to come.

In this world we are as babes in the womb preparing for entry into the spiritual world, not as flesh and blood human beings but as spiritual beings just as He is and then we are able to inhabit and inherit the ‘Kingdom of God’ that Jesus spoke of continually during His time on earth. It is the place He has gone to prepare for us as He promised He would. This book we call the ‘Holy Bible’ was inspired by the only person who proved His divinity by rising from the dead. He inspired men to write His words of life and instruction that we might bind them in our heart, mind and spirit. When planted there the ‘word’ will grow and produce the the final creation He has intended all along…..us, His children and members of His eternal family.

Finding the ‘truth’ is a journey of finding yourself. Who you are, what your future is to be and discovering the eternal family you have never known. The journey may be difficult as the ‘enemy’ will surely try to divert you and dissuade you from but the fabulous future that awaits you is worth whatever the price. The ‘truth’, the whole ‘truth’ and nothing but the ‘truth’ is the Word of God found in His Holy Bible and where your journey begins to the rest of eternity.

And that is ,

As I See It

Time Is A Vehicle

Time is a vehicle which has already arrived at it’s destination. Time is faster than light. Time is everywhere. It is behind us, it is with us and is ahead of us. We are surrounded by time. The future is fluid and we are in the mix.

I have gazed into an audience of adults and have also gazed into an audience of young adults, as I delivered a lecture or sermon. I have often wondered if the young ever thought of themselves as future  “middle-aged or as senior citizens.” I can remember thinking when I was a lot younger, as many of you probably have, that I was strong and was going to live forever. The young are so optimistic and idealistic. If I have learned anything I have learned that the only thing seemingly faster than light is the future rushing toward you. You awaken in the morning watching the sun rising in the east and before you realize it, it is noon and the sun is overhead and you are ‘middle-aged. Trying to grasp the rapidity of the passing of time you are once again surprised, perhaps shocked is a better word, that it is now twilight time and the sun is setting and you are now what you never thought you would be…a senior citizen.

Life is so much shorter than we thought. How did we lose track of time and allow it to move us along so rapidly? It seems we are skiing down the mountain with the wind at our back with an exceedingly steep slope before us and find ourself caught up with the dynamics of  the force of gravity and time whizzing past us at an enormous rate of speed. Our life is passing us by. We were just youngsters when we started down the slope and as we come to the bottom of our descent we are out of breath and almost out of life. We have become the elder, panting and shaken senior citizen we never thought we would be. Is this the end? No, it is not the end of our journey but just the beginning.  Beginning of what?

Let us think about the vastness of this universe. We can think about its immensity but understanding  it is simply beyond our comprehension. A bird may easily fly through the sky but it has no concept of the distance from it’s starting point to the moon, much less to the next planet or next star system; and we haven’t even left our own galaxy. The difference between their understanding and ours as regards the universe is not much different.

I believe it is not with our intellect that we understand creation but it is with our human spirit. Yes, with our spirit. It alone has been created to have the God-like abilities necessary to comprehend the things that are beyond the capability of the limited human mind. The Holy Bible tells us that “God is Spirit”. It is this Spirit of God which communicates with us. It is with His Spirit communicating with our human spirit and not with our limited human intellect or mind that we gain understanding. Spirit to spirit. It is with our powerful God-given spirit that we interpret and receive understanding to our human mind. Our mind does not speak the language of God and so it remains for our spirit to impart this knowledge to our understanding. Our human intellect is sufficient for this earthly existence but it is not sufficient for our coming spiritual existence in the new earth and new life we are going to experience once our Lord returns to earth and transforms it back to it former glorious perfection. There is much we have to do to prepare for this long-awaited event which will prepare us for this eternal journey. The journey we have been hoping for and expecting is about to begin… and it is coming at the speed of light.

That is, As I See It.

Somewhere In Time

Why am I here? Why was I born in this time? Would I have been in another profession in another time? An electronic engineer/inventor today might be a total failure if born in an earlier century. There would be that feeling that something was missing, something was not right. Things are not as they should be. Just what that is isn’t known. Just that vague feeling that something is out of place, just beyond understanding. What would Leonardo DeVinci have been able to invent and create today if he had been born in this century with all the marvels available to him to quench his curiosity? Or Sir Isaac Newton if he had been born in this century? How long would it have been for the world to discover that the earth was round and not flat if Christopher Columbus had not been born? or if Spanish royalty had not financed his voyage? History is being made daily by someones birth or death. There are crossroads in every moment of every day. As witnesses we are often unaware that the future is changing right before our eyes. A decision to do something as simple as going on a picnic where you meet someone you will marry and perhaps bring into the world an Albert Einstein or an Adolph Hitler. Life is made up of little things, small innocuous events that can have earth shaking or worldwide results.

As a tree, we grow where we are planted while circumstance, fate, fortune or whatever you wish to call it may transplant you from your present situation to a totally new environment and once again a whole new paradigm is set into motion. Are we pawns or victims of circumstance? or are we masters of our own fate? What makes the difference? It is the strength of our will and what we choose to do with our free will that can effect the outcome. We can choose to accept the circumstance that life surrounds us with or we can determine to change what life has provided us with and make those changes, little by little and change the outcome. There are losers and there are winners. We can influence the outcome only when we choose to exercise our free will as a powerful force to overcome all obstacles. All winners have had to believe that they can win and win they will. They have the gold medals, while some the silver and some the bronze. They made the effort and succeeded. Without effort, sacrifice and determination, there is only failure or at best just a lucky break. You can’t depend on luck all the time, but you must have faith in yourself, commitment to the goal and  a mind-set that will not accept failure.

You are the one who has to choose…..success or failure.
